Seattle Mariners tickets are on the rise. Sure, the Mariners have just come off back to back seasons in which they lost over 90 games and finished at the bottom of the American League West, but this team has a pitching staff that’s too good to stay down for long. And center fielder Jeremy Reed now has a year under his belt facing Major League pitching. He’s bound to improve on his .254 batting average and measly 3 home runs. But if you need to hang your hat on just one good solid reason to pick up Seattle Mariners tickets and spend a day at Safeco Field, try Ichiro Suzuki.

Ichiro is one of those rare players with no weaknesses. On offense, he’s one of the Mob’s best hitters. Not limited to the long ball or the short ball, Ichiro can place his hits anywhere they’re needed. His hand to eye coordination is as good as any players in the league as attested to by his .303 batting average that comes with 15 home runs and 68 RBI from the leadoff position. On defense, Ichiro was made to play right field. With good speed and an excellent arm, he gets the ball back to the infield better than anyone in the game.

But baseball is a team game and the Mariners success in 206 will hinge on seeing some improvement from Ichiro’s teammates. Center fielder Jeremy Reed should occupy the 2 spot in the order. Reed is solid at the plate, posting a .254 last year but he’ll need to improve on that in order to give Adrian Belpre and Richie Sexson some one to bring home. Sexson is the one to keep an eye on. The clean-up man is coming off a shoulder injury that limited him in 2005 to 39 home runs and 121 RBI. Sexson should see significant jumps in those numbers after an off-season of rest.

Slinging the ball for the Mariners again in 2006 will be Jamie Moyer. The lefty won 13 games last year with 1.28 ERA. Moyer gets batters to bite on bad pitches through control. He varies the ball movement of his low 80’s fastball by changing his grip, alternating with his changeup, and a cutter that’s left more than a few swinging at dead air. Backing up Moyer is young phenom Felix Hernandez. Fernadez has a blazing fastball that stays above 95 mph. For a young pitcher, Fernandez has excellent control and can throw a changeup and a biting curve. His command of his pitches allows him to work all four corners.

Seattle Mariners tickets and a trip to Safeco Field offer MLB fans a chance to see one of the games’ premiere players and a team on the rise. The Mariners won’t be mired in the cellar of the AL West in 2006. They’ve just got too much talent for that. Between established superstar Ichiro and the up and coming Felix Hernandez, Seattle Mariners tickets are something special.
