Question: Why are Dallas Mavericks tickets such a hot commodity? How is it that a team that has never been close to the NBA Finals continues to be one of the hottest tickets in the league?
Answer: Owner Mark Cuban always puts together a group of guys who know how to get up and down the floor and make shots. In an era where the rest of the league is cloning the ugly play of the Spurs and Pistons, the Dallas Mavericks play a style that hearkens back to the 80s, when scores were in the 100s nightly and the NBA was all about the fast-break. Nowadays, the “break” has been replaced by the “brick.” Teams cannot shoot anymore, but man, can they rotate well defensively (Yawn).
Thank goodness for the Dallas Mavericks. Yet again, the Mavs bring the very best offensive team into the 20005-2006 season. Led by Dirk Nowitzki, Dallas has assembled a team that knows what to do when someone passes them a basketball. Newly acquired Doug Christie joins a team with offensive stars such as Jason Terry, Jerry Stackhouse, and Keith Van Horn. The Mavs will not be shutting down any teams any time soon, but good luck to anyone trying to stop them.
Offense has always been a hallmark for Maverick basketball. Jay Vincent, Rolando Blackmon, Derek Harper, and Mark Aguirre got the ball rolling the mid 80s. The bunch punched the Mavericks tickets to the playoffs consistently for the latter part of the decade, never quite making it to the championship series, thanks to the Lakers and Rockets.
The 90s brought the team a new collection of stars, including a trio of young guns called “The 3 J’s” that reenergized the Mavericks from 1993-1996. Jamal Mashburn, Jason Kidd, and Jimmy Jackson came to Dallas, and set the league on fire. Mashburn’s deadly shooting, Kidd’s deft passing, and Jackson’s keen floor game made the Mavericks the best young team in the league. But injuries and egos conspired to tear that team apart before it realized its full potential.
Soon after, a new trio arrived that made everyone forget The 3 J’s. First, Michael Finley arrived, bridging the gap to the new-look Mavericks. Then, Dirk Nowitzki and Steve Nash hit Big D, and showed everyone what Big O was all about. Finley, Nowitzki and Nash gelled and in the years to come, Dallas would be the standard for offensive explosiveness in the NBA. Along the way Nowitzki has been established as one of the leagues superstars, and the Mavericks continue to make strides in the playoffs.
This year, Dallas Mavericks tickets will be hard to come by again, as they mount another attack for NBA West supremacy. Nowitzki will do his best Larry Bird impression, while Christie, Terry, and Stackhouse will continue to be impossible to matchup against. Can offense win a championship? The best way to find out is by reserving your Dallas Mavericks tickets today.
