Golf’s homeland will be throwing a party in July, as the Open Championship tees off for the 146th time. We have your invitations right here with our vast selection of British Open tickets. Scotland’s Willie Park, Sr. won the first Open at Prestwick Golf Club way back in 1860.  This year’s tournament returns to the historic Royal Liverpool Golf Club in the tiny Northwest England town of Hoylake for the first time since 1967.

Nestled along the seaside, this set of tradition-rich links will force golfers to play a variety of shots as they battle what can be brisk winds and sometimes dreary conditions. The knee-high rough and pencil-thin fairways, not to mention the deep pot bunkers, make Royal Liverpool ooze with British tradition.

With the 39-year absence between Opens at Royal Liverpool, the current crop of PGA stars has never had to battle the conditions.  The world’s top golfers, Tiger Woods, Vijay Singh, Ernie Els and Phil Mickeslon will each be making their first appearance at the course for the Open, which has some golf pundits pointing to a solid class of European players as the potential winner. New Zealander Michael Campbell has proven he can hold his own in majors. Of course, local Collin Montgomerie always plays well at the British Open. Up-and-comers like David Howell and Tim Clark also promise to have an impact. But no one’s counting Tiger or Phil, quite yet.

At the 2005 British Open, Woods ran away from the field at St. Andrews to win his second Claret Jug.  But last year’s Open will be remembered more as Jack Nicklabritish’ farewell. The Golden Bear participated in his last British Open in 2005, a memorable moment for everyone.

Unheralded no-names have also left their mark on recent British Opens. In 2004, Todd Hamilton won his first major championship at Royal Troon Golf Club. In 2003, Ben Curtis came out of nowhere to capture the Claret Jug.

Everybody’s invited to the British Open’s 146th birthday. There will be plenty of Fish ‘N Chips and ale for everyone. And, of course, the golf promises to be fantastic. So make your reservations now with 2006 British Open tickets.
