The Broad Street Bullies. The Philadelphia Spectrum. Kate Smith’s God Bless America record. These legendary people and places are the foundation upon which the Philadelphia Flyers have built their kingdom. And what better way to honor their achievement by going to the game with Philadelphia Flyers tickets? Under coach Ken Hitchcock, and housed in the new Wachovia Center, the Philadelphia Flyers are ready to wow fans with the skills of defenseman Eric Desjardins, goalie Robert Esche, and wing Simon Gagne.
In 1967, the Philadelphia Flyers began one of the most successful and exciting franchises in the National Hockey League. In their first season, they won their division and from 1972 to 1989, the Flyers won nine division titles, as well as two Stanley Cup Trophies in 1974 and 1975. With Philadelphia Flyers tickets, you get everything from record-beating, star players to hard-nosed, loyal fans.
The Philadelphia Flyers have brought to Philadelphia some of the toughest, strongest, and best players within the Atlantic Division of the NHL’s Eastern Conference. Famous Philadelphia Flyers include Bobby Clarke, Bill Barber, Bernie Parent, Ron Hextall, Eric Lindros, Rod Brind'Amour and John LeClair.
Center Bobby Clarke is a legend in Philadelphia hockey, known equally for his tenacity and his talent on the ice. Clarke led the Philadelphia Flyers to the Stanley Cup playoffs in 1974/75 and 1979/80 and was honored with the Hart Memorial Trophy as the league’s most valuable player three times in the 1970s. In 1982/83, he won the Selke Trophy as the NHL’s top defensive forward. He is also well remembered for the slash on the ankle he gave to Valeri Kharlamov in the 1972 Summit Series, which broke his ankle and kept him out of the rest of the series. Clarke is currently the general manager of the Philadelphia Flyers.
Those who have played for the Philadelphia Flyers have won a laundry list of awards, including the Hart Memorial Trophy, the Conn Smythe Trophy for the MVP of the playoffs, the Vezina Trophy for best goalkeeper, the Lester B. Pearson Trophy and the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy. These awards are not only given the most talented players, but also the most dedicated, loyal and sportsmanlike.
But the Philadelphia Flyers are not only known for their talent and dedication, they are also known for their no-holds-barred, gloves-off, raw brutality. Like Clarke’s hit on Kharlamov, the Broad Street Bullies, named after the street the Spectrum was on, led brawl after brawl at game after game. Penalties stacked up and players lost seasons from injuries. In the 1974 season, seven Philadelphia Flyers accumulated over 100 minutes each in the penalty box, and one sat for 348 minutes.
With Philadelphia Flyers tickets you get everything the NHL has to offer: great athleticism, loyal fans, championship trophies, hard-driving scores, and of course, knock-down, drag-out brawls. What more could a fan want? Get your Philadelphia Flyers tickets today.
