Clemson head coach Tommy Bowden has been at the helm of the Tigers football program for six years and finally has Clemson where he wants them. Bowden’s offensive coordinator Rob Spence has the Tigers running a bewildering array of offensive schemes, based on a powerful ground game mixed with the timely pass. Spence is known as “The Mad Scientist” for the time he spends watching game tape and analyzing the weakness of Clemson’s opponents. As a result, Clemson is unpredictable and defenses must prepare for anything when they face the Tigers.

In 2006 Spence will have the services of running back James Davis, the 2005 ACC Rookie of the Year and highly regarded freshman C.J. Spiller, considered one of the top prospects in the country. Davis enjoyed a 5.3 yard average last season while rushing 165 times and scoring nine touchdowns. He’ll also enjoy the veteran experience of 5th year senior Will Proctor at quarterback, an accurate passer with the ability to escape pressure and move the ball with his feet as well. Proctor spent time as the backup to Charlie Whitehurst but distinguished himself by leading Clemson to a win over Duke in 2005 and engineering a 4th quarter drive against Texas A & M that put Clemson in the winners column.

When’s he’s throwing the ball, Proctor will be looking for Chansi Stuckey, the top receiver in the ACC in 2005 with 64 receptions for 770 yards and 4 TD’s. Lining up on the opposite side is Aaron Kelly, a rangy receiver that finished with 47 catches and averaged over 12 yards per reception. With Proctor operating behind an offensive line that’s returning al five starters, Clemson Tigers ticket holders will be seeing plenty of aerial firepower and big holes for Davis to run through.

On defense, Clemson Tigers tickets will be giving ACC fans their last look at one of college footballs best defensive ends in Gaines Adams. Adams was projected as a top pick I the NFL Draft but chose to keep playing Clemson football in the hopes of bringing an ACC Championship to Memorial Stadium.
