Florida State Seminoles tickets are hunkering down for another winning season. The Seminoles are coming off an ACC title in 2005 and looking to hang another one on their belts. With Drew Weatherford returning under center and Bobby Bowden running the show college football fans can expect plenty of offense. In 2006 though, Bowden will be looking to pound the ball a little more than he did last season when the Seminoles relied heavily on Weatherford’s strong arm. But make no mistake, when Florida State wants to put points on the board quickly, Weatherford’s the guy.

The Seminoles have always put a winner on the field of Doak Campbell Stadium. 2005 was something of a down year but the Florida State still managed to win the ACC with a record of 8-5. The Seminoles got off to a good start by racking up five straight wins, starting with a tough 10-7 win over 9th ranked Miami (FL) in the season opener. After a blowout of the Citadel at Doak Campbell, Florida State traveled to Boston College and came away with a 28-17 win. Now on a roll, the Seminoles delighted Seminoles ticket holders with back to back wins over Syracuse and Wake Forest to get Doak Campbell rocking.

Virginia ended the winning streak in a 26-21 contest in Scott Stadium but Florida State rebounded with consecutive wins over Duke and Maryland. But in bad news for Florida State fans, the Seminoles dropped the next three, including a 34-7 loss to in-state rival Florida. Amazingly though, Bobby Bowden rallied his troops to pull out an improbable victory over # 5 ranked Virginia Tech in front of a packed crowd at Doak Campbell to end the regular season and earn a berth in the Orange Bowl.

It was an Orange Bowl that will never be forgotten and one of the greatest matches in college football history. Bobby Bowden took his team into Dolphins Stadium to face off with Joe Paterno. Two of the best coaches in college football, each with over 350 victories, would meet face to face. And the game lived up to the hype. In a back and forth battle the Seminoles and the Nittany Lions ended the fourth quarter tied at 16. It would take three overtimes before Penn State emerged with a 26-23 victory, courtesy of a Kevin Kelly field goal. While the Seminoles failed to emerge from the Orange Bowl as a winner, the y were part of a historic meeting of two of the best coaches in history putting on a show that has to be considered among the top bowl games ever played.

Seminoles tickets are primed to deliver even more excitement in 2006. The Seminoles will be playing eight home games in Doak Campbell against the likes of Virginia, Boston College, and Florida. Drew Weatherford is back after throwing for more than 3,000 yards in 2005. In 2006 he should benefit from the improved play of running backs Lorenzo Booker and Antoine Smith, one of the more exciting runners in the ACC. Don’t be left out. Get your Florida State Seminoles tickets and get ready to take on the rest of the ACC.
