Football in the Deep South has to be lived, not just watched. You have to be there at the stadium, take in the aroma of the grills, enjoy the cold beverage of your choice, and cheer your heart out to really know what a college football game is all about. The University of Georgia in Athens is home to one of the greatest college football experiences in all of the Southeastern Conference, if not the entire South. With Georgia Bulldogs tickets in your hand for a game “between the hedges,” you know you are in for the time of your life.

Of course, you can’t talk about Georgia football without talking about Uga, the most famous dog in all of college sports. So far, there have been six Ugas, each the son of his predecessor. The white English bulldog has been the University of Georgia mascot since 1956. In one of the strangest traditions in college football, each deceased Uga is interred in the east end zone of Sanford Stadium. Uga is the face of the Bulldogs, and even accompanied Herschel Walker to the downtown athletic club to accept the Heisman Trophy in 1982.

Sanford Stadium, where they say that games are played “between the hedges” due to the privet hedges that surround the stadium, will be rocking as the Bulldogs play host to some of the best teams in NCAA Division I-A football. UAB, Colorado, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, and Mississippi State will all make the trip to Athens this year. Georgia Bulldogs tickets have never been hotter than they are in the last game of the year as the Dawgs take on traditional rivals Georgia Tech at home in a yearly game of “clean, old-fashioned hate.”

Since 2005, the Bulldogs have been national champions five times and posted twelve SEC Championship titles. They have played in more different bowl games than any other program in the country and have produced two Heisman Trophy winners. Led by a slew of legendary coaches such as Glenn “Pop” Warner, Wally Butts, and Vince Dooley, the “Dawgs” have long been a football powerhouse in the Deep South. This year’s crop of players look continue the tradition of great football started by the on-field heroics of Herschel Walker, Fran Tarkenton, and Terrell Davis, to name just a few.

With D.J. Shockley now playing for the Atlanta Falcons, Coach Mark Richt has given the task of leading the Bulldogs to a repeat as SEC Champions to quarterbacks Joe Tereshinski, a senior, and freshman Matthew Stafford. Running backs Thomas Brown and Danny Ware have more than enough talent between the two of them to ensure that Georgia’s ground attack keeps the ball moving. The Georgia defense has already shown its worth by shutting out Steve Spurrier’s South Carolina Gamecocks.

So get your red and black on, fire up the barbeque, and be ready to ring the Chapel Bell after the Bulldogs march on to victory in Sanford Stadium on their way to the SEC Championship. Some of the best football in the NCAA will be played in Athens this year, don’t miss out on a minute with Georgia Bulldogs tickets!
