Miami Hurricanes ticket holders enjoyed a fine season in 2005. The Hurricanes finished at 8-2, 6-2 in the ACC, and ended up with a Peach Bowl appearance to cap off the season. Naturally, one of the best games of the season was the instate rivalry contest with Florida State. In 2005 the Hurricanes and the Seminoles put on a bare knuckle battle for bragging rights in Florida. Miami traveled to Florida State for the game and unfortunately fell to the Seminoles 10-7. The loss broke a Hurricanes winning streak that has centered around some late game wins and bad luck on the part of Florida State. This time it was Hurricanes ticket holders that watched their team botch a late field goal that would have sent the game into overtime.

After watching Florida State gain a 10-0 lead on a James Coleman touchdown and a 37 yard field goal by Gary Cismesia, all in the first quarter. Hurricanes quarterback Kyle Wright connected on a 34 yard pass to Ryan Moore in the middle of the second quarter to narrow the gap and keep Hurricanes fans hoping for a comeback. They almost got it. After a back and forth battle throughout the second half, the Hurricanes managed to drive down the field and lined up for a 28-yard field goal with less than three minutes left in the game. A low snap evaded the holder though and the kick never got off the ground. It was the third missed field goal of the day for Miami.

Despite the heartbreaking loss the Hurricanes season got better pretty quickly. A 36-30 win at Clemson the following week put Miami back on track and began a 7-game winning streak that included victories over Colorado, Duke, Temple, and a stunning 27-7 win over 3rd ranked Virginia Tech on the Hokies home field. Georgia tech put an end to the winning streak with a 14-10 win at the Orange Bowl but after a 25-17 win over Virginia the Hurricanes received their invitation to the Peach Bowl where they faced off against the LSU Tigers.

Miami Hurricanes ticket holders packed their bags and headed for Atlanta to see their Hurricanes (ranked #17) take on the LSU Tigers (#6) in the Georgia Dome. While the Hurricanes managed to generate plenty of offense during the regular season, the LSU defense kept Miami in check the whole night, limiting the Hurricanes to a 21-yard filed goal in the first quarter. The score put the Hurricanes up 3-0 but it was a short lived lead as LSU went on to score 40 unanswered points to win 40-3, scoring on eight straight drives. The most fight Miami put up on the night was the brawl that ensued as the two teams left the field. Regardless of the outcome of the Peach Bowl, Miami Hurricanes tickets paid off in spades for college football fans in Florida. It’s that way year after year. The Miami Hurricanes may have their ups and downs but if you just hang on to your Hurricanes tickets, you’ll be watching one of the nation’s premiere college football programs in action.
