The Penn State Nittany Lions rolled into Michigan Stadium n a tear but left with a loss as the Wolverines played their best game of the year and topped Joe Paterno’s crew 27-25. From there it was all gravy as Michigan posted impressive wins over Iowa, Northwestern, and Indiana before falling to Ohio State in the last game of the regular season. As the 2006 college football season approaches Michigan Wolverines tickets are` ready to assume their place at the top of the heap. The Wolverines are returning the majority of starters in the skill positions on offense. Head coach Lloyd Carr wanted his running backs to be lighter and faster for 2006 and he got what he wanted. Kevin Grady, who finished second on the team with 483 yards, came into spring training 20 pounds lighter and more nimble. He’ll push starter Mike Hart for playing time. Hart has been impressive, gaining 662 yards in 2005, but has been plagued with injury. Having Grady carry more of the load may solve that problem. Quarterback Chad Henne, who threw for 2,526 yards and 23 touchdowns with only eight interceptions, is ready to take the reins of the offense again. When the Wolverines throw the ball, they’ll be looking for wide receiver Steve Breaston or his counterpart Mario Manningham. All in all, Wolverines ticket holders are looking at one of the more potent offenses in the Big 10.
