UCLA Bruins tickets are a major hit with college football fans and getting better all the time. The Bruins offense excelled in the 50-38 postseason win over Northwestern. Quarterback Drew Olson passed for three touchdowns though he struggled somewhat with another three interceptions. Chris Markey notched 161 rushing yards on 24 carries. But what made the Sun Bowl appearance even more memorable was the spectacular plays made by wide receiver Brandon Breazell. Breazell recovered a pair of onside kicks and returned both of them for touchdown, a first in Sun Bowl history.
The UCLA Bruins enter the 2006 college football season looking to improve on their #30 pre-season ranking. New offensive coordinator Jim Svoboda first has to replace departing quarterback Drew Olson. But that shouldn’t be a problem with Ben Olson waiting in the wings. Olson has good size and the arm strength to deliver the ball down the field. Fortunaely, Olson will be handing off to running back Chris Markey. Markey, named co-MVP in the Sun Bowl last season, is a 200 pound junior with enough quickness to take advantage of a crease in the defense. He’ll be running behind fullback Michael Pitre who has two years as a starter under his belt. And of course, the Bruins will be looking for even better things from wide receiver Brandon Breazell after his performance in the Sun Bowl.
Defensively the Bruins are also operating under a new coordinator. DeWayne Walker is known as an aggressive playcaller, running a 4-3 defense and relying on his corners to play man to man and his safeties to help stuff the run. While the Bruins has some losses at linebacker they’ll have some experienced players ready to step in. Christian Taylor. A 220 pound junior should be able to handle the middle while John Hale and Aaron Whittington man the outside. Manning the defensive line, Justin Hickman shows signs of becoming one of the PAC 10’s most dominant players.
UCLA Bruins tickets won’t be around long. The Bruins are laoded with returning talent and armed with an aggressive new staff of coaches with NFL experience. The 2006 schedule includes Rose Bowl visits from Stanford, Arizona, Oregon State, Utah, and caps off with the big matchup against USC. Another bowl game is in the cards for UCLA.
